!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rita (Haliburton) Nute and husband Wesley will be celebrating their 27th anniversary
on August 8th !!!!!!!!!!!!! Rita wrote "My husband, Wesley, and I will celebrate our 27th
wedding anniversary on Aug. 8th. I wanted to share that joyous bit of news with
others….and to update people on my family.   Life gets truly interesting after 50…..
priorities change, attitudes change, the body changes, life changes. It can be funny
and it can be torture…..but although the seasons change . . . love remains the
same…especially God’s love. "---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank You Rita !!!!!

Olive Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Wake will be 7 to 8 p.m.
Monday, at the church. Robert was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Houston, the eldest of three
children to Robert and Deltessa Lee. As a youngster, he joined Mt. Rose Baptist
Church, where he was baptized. "Bobby" as he was fondly called, attended Burrus
Elementary and Junior High School. He graduated from Philis Wheatly High School,
where his musical talents were discovered and fostered. After graduation from Philis
Wheatly, Robert entered Prairie View A&M College. His instrumental gifts continued to
develop through his participation in the Prairie View Marching Band, Jazz Band and
Orchestra. Along with the trombone, he also masters the saxophone. Because of his
tremendous instrumental talent, the Legendary Count Basie Band extended an
invitation to Robert to become one of their band members. Robert received a
Bachelor of Arts in Music, which paved the path as he became one of the most well
regarded and distinguished Band Directors in the city, state and nation. After
graduation from Prairie View, Robert's teaching career as a Band Director began in
Yokem, Texas, under the mentorship of Dr. "Pops" Sander, his high school principal.
As he continued the pursuit of his education, each summer he returned to Prairie
View where he received a Master in Arts in Music. His leadership and marching band
expertise were significant factors as he was recruited to become Head Director of
Bands in the Waco Independent School District. Upon arrival to the Waco community,
he united with the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Robert was well respected
because of service to his fellowman, community and profession. He is survived by his
wife, Phae Lee; son, Robert E. Lee III; daughter, Raquel Lee; step-daughter, Tamara
Weaver; four grandchildren; one sister; one brother; and a host of other relatives and
friends. August 17, 1935 - September 23, 2008 Sign the Guest Book at www.wacotrib.
